Girls Who Code Technical Interview Prep

Our Technical Interview Prep (TIP) Practice Day is an opportunity for Girls Who Code community members to develop their skills and confidence in technical interviews. During the event, hosted on vFairs, participants can practice mock interviews with technologists from Girls Who Code’s corporate partners, receive valuable feedback, and learn through both experience and observation. Participants will also have the chance to complete an optional asynchronous curriculum in the weeks prior.

  • Observe GWC alumni demonstrating different types of interviews, and practice alongside them!
  • Learn more about companies in their booths

Who should register for TIP?

This program is designed for women and non-binary technologists who are:

  • At least 18 years old (recommended for those between the ages of 20 - 26), and,
  • Based in the United States
  • Preparing to or currently applying for technical internships or entry-level roles

About Practice Days:

Check out our curriculum on Forage! This asynchronous, optional material will lead you through standard technical interview questions for internship and entry-level technical roles, and provides guidance from GWC alumni and industry professionals. You can explore different types of interviews, including the whiteboard challenge and case study, at your own pace.
This event will include video calls, so please ensure you are on a computer with a video camera and a microphone and are able to participate from a quiet environment. vFairs online events are fully compatible with Desktop (web) on the following browsers when updated to the latest version: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge (chromium version on Windows 10 only).
On vFairs, users will be able to alter the website’s design according to their needs and preferences. Once you’ve registered, you can choose an accessibility profile, with seizure-safe, vision-impaired, cognitive disability, ADHD-friendly, and additional vision or motor disability options. The platform features live video transcription and captioning, alternative text attributes for images, color-contrast toggles, text size adjustment, and simplified platform navigation with key controls. Participant Information:

This program is designed for women and non-binary technologists who are:

  • Based in the United States
  • Preparing to or currently applying for technical internships or entry-level roles
No. While this event is designed to reach our college-aged and early-career audience, this event is open to the wider Girls Who Code community.
  • Update your resume: Your resume will be submitted with your registration form. You’ll have the opportunity to upload an updated resume to your profile before the Practice Days.
  • Update your LinkedIn: You can add your LinkedIn to your vFairs profile.
  • Think about your environment: You may join a video call during the event. You’ll want to ensure your camera and microphone are working, that you have a well-lit, clear space to sit, and that you are dressed appropriately.
Registration will open on January 23, 2025, and will remain open until we have reached our capacity for the event. If we do reach capacity, a waitlist will be open to capture your information. Register early to hold your spot, but please cancel your registration if you can no longer attend to make space for others.

To ensure this is a useful, educational event for all participants, Girls Who Code has capped the number of tickets. If we reach the cap, the registration form will prompt you to complete an interest form for our waitlist. We will be regularly reviewing registration cancellations to consider offering access to those on the waitlist.
Participating in practice interviews is optional! You can join practice interview rooms to observe peers while they engage, or watch GWC alumni as they demonstrate different types of interviews.
